COMMUNITY RADIO BROADCASTING - 2026 - Winnipeg, MB

The application period for Soldier On members wishing to participate in the COMMUNITY RADIO BROADCASTING 2026 Event is now open. The application deadline is 30 Aug 2026 at 2345 hrs central time.

AIM AND SCOPE OF EVENT: 
Soldier On, in collaboration with CJNU 93.7 FM, located in Winnipeg MB, will conduct a 4-hour community radio workshop, where each participant will be introduced to community radio broadcasting to include a tour of the station, discussion of key components, its significance, its future, and types of broadcasting. Participants will also have an opportunity to practice broadcasting through training scenarios and get a chance to pre-record a show about military service to be aired on Remembrance Day. This will be a one-day event held on Wedneday 16 September 2026.

This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. 

The number of Soldier On participants is limited to 4.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 
Any serving member or veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) from the Winnipeg area (& surrounding 100 km) who acquired a permanent physical or mental health illness or injury while enrolled as a member of the CAF; whether attributable or not to service.

Selected Serving members will require the approval of their Chain of Command to participate. 

DRAFT SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Wednesday 16 September 2026:

-0945 hrs: Participants arrive at CJNU and event briefing;

-1000 - 1200 hrs: conduct event;

-1200 - 1300 hrs: Lunch;

-1300 - 1400 hrs conduct event; &

-1400 hrs: Event complete & depart.

Transportation:
Transportation will not be provided by Soldier On for this event. Participants will be required to arrange their own travel to and from the event location.

Meals:
Lunch will be provided for this event by 93.7 FM CJNU.

Mental & Physical Requirements:
Applicants must be able to tolerate hours of light paced activities. Due to the busy activity schedule, applicants must have a limited requirement for rest throughout the day. 

Applicants will be joined with other ill/injured members and civilians, and therefore should be able to function in a social environment. Applicants also acknowledge that there will be no alcohol allowed at this event.
